Alcohol and Sex: Pros and Cons – Episode 79

Alcohol and sex are often mixed together, sometimes with great sexual outcomes and sometimes with not-so-great ones!

This episode is for those of you that have ever thought about having a drink or two to loosen up the gears in the bedroom… Or have already tried it!

Join me as I talk about some of the pros:

  • Physical and sexual relaxation
  • Letting go of inhibitions and worries or preoccupations
  • Feeling more sensitive to and excited by touch

And some of the cons:

  • Too much bodily relaxation depresses the system and sometimes makes genitals function “below capacity”
  • You might get too sleepy

This episode is a brief one that might just apply to you during this time of year.

Having sex when you’re sick… Should you or shouldn’t you? It’s up to you really, but here are some thoughts about the pros and cons of having sex when you’re sick:

  • You might spread it
  • Your healthy partner might not want to hear snot gurgling around in your head while you guys do it!
  • You might feel gross or alternately hot/cold
  • It could be a nice way to say “thank you” to the person who has been nursing you back to health (if this person is your partner)
  • It might give you a chance to be close with them again since usually sick people get avoided even when they live with their lover

Things That Make You “Good in Bed” – Episode 66

Finally I’m back, after a week-long bout of strep throat.

Feeling alive and well, I decided to start this new week of episodes off with a bang! Episode 66 talks about 9 of the things that makes you good in bed, according to World Lifestyle’s article “Men Say 9 Things that Make a Woman ‘Good in Bed.'”

When I first read this article, I was surprised at some of the “things,” like confidence and a willingness to be “in it for yourself sometimes.” I thought, “DUH!” but then realized that even if you don’t care what men think makes us good in bed (which many of us do), these “things” can be used as guidelines for women to  reflect on their sexuality and experiences.

Some of the things, like eye contact, can be hard to do even if you love or enjoy your partner… Sometimes the mood just isn’t right for it!

Others, like laughing when the opportunity arises, is a perfect reminder that queefs, farts, and sneezes are truly funny when they happen during sex!

Sexual Safety: Way Beyond the Condom – Episode 60

Safe sex is something that is so important to explain to your children and the people that you love in your life.

This episode is a perfect reminder of the many ways that sexual safety can be maintained… It goes so much further than simply protecting yourself against STDs and/or pregnancy. Be sure think about: Choosing a partner that will respect you and take care of you.

  • Being comfortable requesting and/or demanding what you want and depserve from your relationship or sexual liaison.
  • Feeling prepared to say no if anything feels wrong to you, whether you are in a long term relationship or simply having a fun fling.
  • Picking a “safe” word to use with your partner is things go in a direction you dislike.
  • Meeting your physical and emotional needs after sex (i.e. talking or cleaning your body parts!).

Remember, sexual safety goes so much farther than using a condom… It’s a way of being!

The Strip Tease: The Absence of Touching – Episode 59

This episode is a discussion on the art of the strip tease, a topic I’ve mentioned in Foreplay: An Overview of Options and Fresh Ideas.

The exciting thing about the strip tease is that it can be catered to your idea of a good time, while also spicing up your sex life in all the right ways…

Most foreplay and sex activities are very physical… Meaning that you and your partner are inevitably touching in some way. The strip tease is different; it’s tantalizing and fresh because usually there is no touching. You and your partner are forced to rely on your other senses (like sight, smell, and hearing) for experience.

This sexual play is also great because it gives you a chance to see yourself through your partner’s eyes! You’re going to be reminded how sexy you are when you look at him looking at you! Just like naked time, the strip tease reminds you of your wonderful physical self!

Kissing: My Mixed Feelings About the Smooch – Episode 58

The topic of this episode might shock you…

I think that kissing can be overrated! Ahhhh! Do you believe it?

If you’re like me, of course you do!

Kissing is a romantic, passionate, and usually fantastic activity, but it can often be one of the main focuses of sex at the expense of other areas getting some attention. Perfect as a foreplay option and often as a way to emotionally bond and physically connect, it sometimes should be put on the back burner in favor of other desires!

Join me for this episode as I talk about my opinions about the classic “makeout session,” the history of kissing, and the origins of the action that we’ve come to equate with “true love.”

Genital Juices: What’s Going on Down There? – Episode 57

This episode wades through the many juices that we come to know in our genital regions! Of course there’s our periods (don’t forget about period sex!), sweat (which is healthy and natural for you!) and your natural vaginal and cervical discharge.

Lubrication and the many other liquids that we encounter in this area are something that we usually fail to talk about. I know that personally, I always thought that my partner’s juices were the ones that dominated the scene after sex, but little did I know it was really my body making most of the lubrication that I was seeing. Your internal self is mysterious place, one that works so well that we rarely even know all of its secrets!

Our own discharge and lubrication can depend on our hormone levels, our diet, health status, and our time of the month!
