Facials: The Dirty Kind – Episode 91

This episode is a review of the hilarious and fantastic article entitled Why I Like Facials (The Dirty Kind) by Emily via XOJane.

The author explains not only why she likes dirty facials but why they are not degrading. Her fantastic tag-line is “My orgasms are a politics-free zone,” which is a great concept to apply to many other sex acts. Join me for this fabulous episode!

Kissing: My Mixed Feelings About the Smooch – Episode 58

The topic of this episode might shock you…

I think that kissing can be overrated! Ahhhh! Do you believe it?

If you’re like me, of course you do!

Kissing is a romantic, passionate, and usually fantastic activity, but it can often be one of the main focuses of sex at the expense of other areas getting some attention. Perfect as a foreplay option and often as a way to emotionally bond and physically connect, it sometimes should be put on the back burner in favor of other desires!

Join me for this episode as I talk about my opinions about the classic “makeout session,” the history of kissing, and the origins of the action that we’ve come to equate with “true love.”

Crazy Myths About Vaginas and Women’s Bodies – Episode 35

This episode highlights some hilarious, bizarre, and downright disturbing myths about vaginas and women’s bodies! Thankfully, nobody (well, almost nobody) believes these crazy ideas anymore, but they do help us understand the sexual history of our country and the way it regards women today. These crazy myths have been pulled from a Huffington Post article by Amanda Scherker, which allows me to point out how the history and legacy of these myths that is embedded in our culture today.

Would you ever have guessed that once women were thought of as having a “cold” genital region and an almost absent sex drive (also check out my overview of the history of the vibrator)? What about periods? Could they have been considered life-threatening dangers to men (what does that mean about period sex today?)?

I also briefly mention the fantastic book, Woman: An Intimate Geography by Natalie Angier, which reminds us that women aren’t Adams’ rib, after all! Check out today’s episode!

Talking to Your Kids About Sex – Episode 22

Talking to your kids about sex is easier than you think!

It all starts with modeling your behavior for them and teaching them that they deserve to be respected and that they should give respect to others. Also, being open about your sexual experiences (i.e. how old you were, how you felt about sex) is the best way to give advice without feeling bossy. Answering your child’s questions in an age appropriate way and never hiding the actual the biological facts about sex gives your children the understanding they need as they enter into the sexual phase of their lives.

This episodes highlights all of this and more, including my personal experiences and understandings about sex as a kid, and how you really can counteract societal attitudes about women’s sexuality with modeling and openness and give your children the tools they need to ask for what they want in life!

You are Not the Vibrator You Choose – Episode 10

This episode gives you a brief history of the vibrator, the hilarious and surreal story that it is! I also talk about your choice of vibrators and how you should choose your vibrator because of what it does, not how it looks.

Who cares if it looks like a shiny bunny or an orange alien digit?! Does it hit the spot? If so, then that’s the one for you!

I also discuss shopping for your vibrator… And how in order to choose the vibrator that is best for you, you have to know what makes your nether regions tick! Don’t be fooled by hype–know what you like and choose a vibrator accordingly.

I also feature my own personal story about the first vibrator I ever purchased as an inexperienced young woman… A large, penis-shaped, unyielding piece of plastic!

Understanding Societal Attitudes About Women’s Sexuality – Episode 6

This episode talks about the way society views women and their sexuality and bodies. Women are often viewed as either innocent ladies or loose whores and a woman who truly takes charge of her sexuality is an unexpected phenomenon, even in the world today (which espouses its advancement of equality).

Being open about sexuality and the pressures we feel as women is one way to open up a dialogue about the mismatches between a societal view of female sexuality and a woman-centered view of sexuality.
